Venus is associated with money, love and legal contracts. It is the patron planet of Taurus in its money phase and Libra is in its love and contract phase. Venus does not like passing through the sign of Capricorn because Capricorn restricts money and love. Internationally, we may see a restriction of money, which could mean certain currencies are devalued and we may see serious, practical attempts at diplomatic solving of the current world crisis.

So what does this mean to you?

Let’s begin with Capricorn, who is enjoying Venus going through your sign. You are career or work oriented, and use your work as a source of satisfaction. Work should go smoothly as long as you are aware of a need for cooperation because of transiting Saturn. Saturn is traveling through the sign of Libra, which is in tension with Capricorn and could present tense, challenging work situations. Even though you may have spent a lot of time on a practical project that you think is useful, if you are challenged and don’t like it, be cooperative and it will go well. Being confrontational will backfire because Saturn is stronger. Your love life should be better with Venus going through your sign, again, if you are cooperative and are willing to give your loved one some personal time.

Taurus should be happy that love and money are both going quietly well. You may be pleased that what  your loved one wants have is combined with being practical and saving some money. Practical things bring satisfaction and your love life should be quietly satisfying.

Virgo may be happy that your loved one brings you a practical project that you can analyze and then execute to beautify your surroundings, which will bring you satisfaction. Your attention to detail is appreciated. Your love life should be quietly satisfying.

Aries may experience challenges because your loved one is busy working or is thinking about practical things and somewhat ignoring you. Your creative ideas may be challenged by those who want to apply the practical and frugal.

Gemini’s scintillating personality is not appreciated because your loved one is too busy either working or paying attention to the structure of the projects. You may have to adjust to less money to play with because you needed to pay for necessities.

Cancer experiences either opposition from your loved one or lack of companionship because of other pressing circumstances. You are sensitive; instead of taking it personally be compassionate to your loved one’s situation. You are experiencing challenges from Saturn in Libra, so your loved one’s circumstances stem from responsibilities that could exclude you and are not personal, or perhaps you have responsibilities that prevent close companionship. Concentrate on the realities of your relationship and be responsible in your response.

Leo needs to adjust to a perceived lack of appreciation and admiration because your loved one is busy working. Your loved one may also be trying to curb your expenditures to keep you out of debt.

Libra has two things happening: Saturn going through your sign and Venus in Capricorn challenging you. With Saturn as your partner you are strongly able to accomplish much in any practical endeavor which is laying a foundation or structure. Venus is challenging during this time to stay within your budget, which you don’t like to do. You appreciate beauty and it may cost too much at this time, at least in the eyes of whoever manages the money. Your gracious diplomacy usually wins the day, but try to be frugal until the beginning of March. Your loved one may be working many hours and not able to give you the time you want. The family is not unbalanced, but your loved one is working to bring money in. This is temporary; get busy with a practical project to beautify your surroundings.

Scorpio experiences two things: Pluto, your patron planet, is traveling through the sign of Capricorn and Venus joins it for a month. This consolidates money, intimacy and power which bring you opportunities to express power or effectiveness. The sign of Scorpio demands sharing, so be sure to share your power by empowering others so your activities these coming years will be what you want. You should have financial opportunities to secure investments in dependable entities. Your loved one may give you an opportunity to commit to your relationship and that should be what you want.

Sagittarius is neutral with Venus in Capricorn. You can see your love life going as it always does and you will continue to experience your adventures.

Aquarius is also neutral, so you can continue to be free within your world, knowing your management abilities should be fruitful.

Pisces has two opportunities: both Pluto and Venus are in Capricorn, which mean opportunities for practical results of your dreams, but you need to take action or the opportunities are not noticed. Your loved one or business partner is in practical mode, believing that saving money and creating security are what your dreams need and they willing to help you achieve it.

If you are skeptic about this, ask any friend who works in either the medical or police professions what happens on the full Moon.

On January 26, we will have a quarter (or half) Moon in the signs of Scorpio and Aquarius. This means the Moon is in the sign of Scorpio and the Sun is in the sign of Aquarius. If you position these signs in their natural places in the horoscope, they form a 90 degree angle to one another, which indicates stress. The 90 degree angle is called a square, which is a non-personal situation, although many people take things personally. The Aquarian personality does not expect others to take their statements or actions personally, while the Scorpio personality usually takes everything personally. Both signs are control or managing signs and there could be control issues because of an impersonal decision that is taken personally, or stress over who the manager of the situation is. Scorpio and Aquarius may have stressful control issues with each other, or impersonal stressful situations throughout the day that relate to finances and team situations.

The other control or managing signs are Taurus and Leo. About that "new" 13th sign.

This is about the “new” thirteenth sign of the Zodiac and the wobble:

I thought this would have died down by now, but I am still receiving emails and phone calls about it. The wobble of the earth is what causes the precession of the equinoxes, which simply means the earth goes from one Astrological Age to another. The wobble is actually the nodding of the Precessing Polar Axis.  For instance, we have left the Age of Pisces and are now in the Age of Aquarius for another approximate 2,500 years. This is nothing new and has been with us from the beginning of the earth. A complete Precessional Cycle, according to the Egyptians and recorded in the Great Pyramid, is 25,827-1/2 years. This means it takes this long for an Age to return to itself: for instance the Age of Aquarius had recently begun and it will take that long for the next Aquarian Age to come about.

About that thirteenth sign: Your sign is still your sign; you are not a different sign because other constellations are in the sky. God created all the constellations: they have all been there from the beginning, one did not just pop up to give us a new sign. The ancients knew much more about astronomy than they will ever be given credit for and they named the constellations of the zodiac for their good reasons. If anyone has studied even basic astrology, you know each astrological sign “rules” or is associated with different parts of the body. This could mean that each astrological age of about 2,500 years, or maybe a great year of 25,827-1/2 years, a different part of the human body was being developed. For instance, the first sign of Aries rules the head and brain, and it goes from there. This is conjecture on my part. Adrian Gilbert wrote a scientific discussion of Astrology, saying that the positive and negative energy from the Sun radiates according to the astrological signs, thereby influencing the fetus and newborn. Thus we have different personality traits (and more) because one month the Sun radiates positive energy into a positive sign and the next it radiates negative energy into a negative sign. Positive and negative here means that which is like electricity.

Enoch learned the secrets of the heavens so very long ago. This means the zodiac had been named from the beginning, and according to Enoch, by Adam.

I hope this clears up any confusion about this subject. Every once in a while, the news media brings up this story, apparently for something to report that could be interesting enough to boost their readership. Mercury goes direct December 30

You will be happy when Mercury goes direct, so communications can be clear and you can sign papers, especially regarding retirement. You may finally receive communication from a company you applied to for a job. Electronic glitches to your printer, e-mail or other electronic devices will clear up. If you have Christmas gift cards and want to purchase something electronic, it is wise to wait until December 31 to do.

Mercury goes direct, or forward, December 30 at 19 degrees in the sign of Sagittarius. Then it will travel through the remaining degrees of the sign of Sagittarius and into Capricorn again, repeating communication events. Mercury was at 19 degrees of Sagittarius November 24, the day before Thanksgiving. Whatever happened that day has the opportunity to repeat December 30. Personally, if you have a planet, your ascendant or midheaven at 19 degrees of any sign except Scorpio or Capricorn, you can expect a repeat of the day before Thanksgiving on December 30.

Mercury went retrograde at 5 Capricorn 55 or 6 degrees Capricorn on December 10. Mercury will repeat that degree late the evening of January 17 and early morning January 18. Mercury will be in a closer conjunction with Pluto December 30 than it was on December 10. Expect tense, focused and determined communication or news about corporations, maybe a restructuring of same. Personally, if you have a planet, your ascendant or midheaven at 5 or 6 degrees of any sign except Sagittarius or Aquarius, you can expect a repeat of what will have happened on December 30 to repeat January 17 or 18, 2011.

Sidebar: Mars is in the sign of Capricorn, indicating a period of activity regarding corporations or formal entities through January 16, 2011. Then it goes into the sign of Aquarius, the coldest sign of winter. We can then expect colder weather through February 22, 2011.

Eclipse, Solstice and Mercury Retrograde

RARE LUNAR ECLIPSE & WINTER SOLSTICE:  For the first time in many years, northern winter is beginning with a total lunar eclipse.  On Dec. 21, 2010, the date of the northern winter solstice, the full Moon will pass through Earth's shadow, turning the lunar orb a delightful shade of coppery-red. Sky watchers in North America are favored with an overhead view as the eclipse unfolds on Tuesday morning between 02:41 am and 03:53 am EST. Is this rare? It is indeed, according to Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory, who inspected a list of eclipses going back 2000 years. "Since Year 1, I can only find one previous instance of an eclipse matching the same calendar date as the solstice, and that is Dec. 21, 1638," says Chester. "Fortunately we won't have to wait 372 years for the next one...that will be on Dec. 21, 2094."

The winter solstice is the beginning of the sign of Capricorn, which is, astrologically, the first day of winter. It is also the day when more light begins to shine. The eclipse was in the last degrees of the sign of Sagittarius. You know that a full Moon brings crazy situations; in the sign of Sagittarius, the situations would be travel, higher education, diplomacy or foreign relations. An eclipse intensifies any full-Moon situations. An eclipse also repeats every 19-1/2 years, so the last Sagittarius eclipse was December 21, 1991. 

An eclipse emphasizes the full moon craziness, but it also can forecast happenings for nations. What did happen, that goes along with the peacemaking trait of Sagittarius, is that North Korea backed down from attacking south Korea over their war games. This is a good portent. Mercury was in a stressful relationship with Uranus and Jupiter before the eclipse, indicating North Korea’s exaggerated belligerence. Mercury then traveled into a good relationship with Neptune, indicting an opportunity for enlightenment or understanding of consequences, and they backed down. 

The lunar eclipse was in the last degree of the sign of Sagittarius, in the same sign as retrograde Mercury. The sun quickly traveled into the sign of Capricorn, bringing in the first day of winter, when the sunlight begins to increase.

How about you personally? If you have a planet, your ascendant or midheaven in a 28, 29 or zero degree, the eclipse will have a relationship or aspect to your planets. What planet or point is aspected, and what the aspect or relationship is reveals what would have happen. Transiting Pluto was in the 28th  and 29th  degree of Sagittarius and zero degree of Capricorn from December 2007 through October of 2009. You would have had focus dates or hits from Pluto during that time; again, the results depending on the details. The eclipse on December 21, 2010 would have triggered whatever happened during Pluto’s transit and relationship to your planet and end the situation for good.

All in all, an eclipse usually triggers  something dramatic. Besides North Korea, the wiki-leaker was indignant that someone leaked his doings to the press.

You would experience changes in travel plans during the two days of the event: December 21 and December 22. Since Mercury is retrograde, please double check and triple check your plans before you think they are final. The Astrology Tip of the Day has some information, too. 

Personally, Sagittarius would experience an urge to do something fun, erratic and maybe pushy, resulting in resistance. Gemini could experience opposition from partners. Virgo and Pisces could experience irritating or challenging situations. Aries could offer creative ideas to solve the situation, Leo could draw Sagittarius and Gemini into an opulent party. Libra could cooperate and bring balance, Aquarius usually sees the larger picture and could suggest what they know to bring about clear thinking and harmony. Cancer could soothe feelings, Scorpio could manage the entire situation. Capricorn and Taurus would be neutral.

Meteor Showers now

GEMINID METEOR SHOWER: The Geminid meteor shower peaks this year on Dec. 13th and 14th.  Forecasters say meteor rates could exceed 100 per hour for observers under dark rural skies.  For best results, start your meteor watch on Monday night, Dec. 13th, around midnight.  Keep an eye out for Geminids until sunrise on Tuesday, Dec. 14th. There's no special trick to seeing the Geminids.  Bundle up for maximum warmth, go outside, lie down and look up. Geminids can appear in any part of the sky, but all their tails will point back to the radiant in the constellation Gemini.  Check http://spaceweather.com for updates, images and a sky map.

Mercury goes retrograde Dec. 10

So you are forewarned, the planet Mercury will go retrograde on December 10 at 08:05 Eastern Time. He will go direct on December 30 at 03:21 Eastern Time.

He goes retrograde in the sign of Capricorn and backs into the sign of Sagittarius. This means practical work and career communications and papers can go awry. Now is the time for you to double-check your job applications to make sure they are accurate. If you had applied for a job that did not work out, re-apply until December 17 and you may get that job. When Mercury backs into Sagittarius on December 18 you will want to double-check all travel plans for accuracy. Personally, I would not make travel plans until after December 30 if you can possibly do this. If you are traveling, double-check every detail every day to avoid arriving somewhere and the times were changed.

For those of you with a retrograde Mercury in your horoscope, this is a good time for you to communicate and make plans but please remember that others are operating under the retrograde. You may want to help others now because your communication is in sync with Mercury, the planet of communication.

Venus went retrograde October 8, 2010

Venus went retrograde on Friday, October 8 in the sign of Scorpio and goes direct on November 18 in the sign of Libra. Hopefully you prepared your finances so you have enough money to cover your basic expenses. Also be aware that there may be bargains in luxury goods between October 8 and November 18. As time goes by, more and more money flees your account because of extra expenses. You could need a necessity like fuel oil and you order more than you usually do because you think the prices is better than it will be after November 18. You are right.

If you are a Taurus or Libra, you may be more affected than people of the other signs. This is because Venus is your patron planet. However Venus is in the sign of Scorpio, meaning Scorpio and Taurus people can experience tense love relationships. Venus in the sign of Scorpio can mean a drop in the money or stock markets because both Taurus and Scorpio are associated with (or rule) money. Taurus may have the feeling of being pushed, this will pass. 


Scorpio may be either more intense and persistent than usual, or absorbed in financial issues and not be amorous at all until after November 18.

Taurus, Leo and Aquarius could experience control issues in financial situations and close relationships. The Scorpio energy with Venus is intense, focused and persistent. 

Cancer and Pisces may have good love relationships with a tinge of feeling controlled or the opposite: your significant other seems not to be interested. This will pass. 


Virgo and Capricorn may be working too hard to notice a lack of affection, but will be acutely aware of any lessening of income and work hard in response. Money will come back to you after November 18. 


Aries and Gemini may need to adjust to their loved ones moodiness or seriousness that comes to the surface; something both signs are not comfortable with. Your loved will not always be this way, so adjust and all will be well after November 18. 


Libra and Sagittarius should be neutral with your love life, but you will notice added expenses that are relieved after November 18.
